Domestic Hot Water and Underfloor Heating from Solar Energy

Significant savings can be achieved by harnessing the power of the sun. Solar energy can be incorporated into an energy efficient heating and domestic hot water solution by using any of our range of 'CAT' thermal store cylinders.

Faster Payback Time

The Chelmer Solar System may provide up to 70% of annual domestic hot water and make a worthwhile contribution towards underfloor heating. As the Chelmer method incorporates energy for both underfloor heating and domestic hot water the payback time of the solar investment is substantially reduced.

Flat Panels or Evacuated Tube Sets

Solar panels are ideal for south facing locations and can be installed in or on a roof, or in another suitable location. However for maximum solar gain evacuated tubes are recommended as they collect sunlight from a wider angle, they will also provide greater winter solar gain than panels, panels should only be used in a south facing roof.

Panels and evacuated tubes will both provide a useable solar output even on overcast days when used in conjunction with a Chelmer Thermostore or ‘EcoCat’ Thermostore cylinder.
